FDI Inflows to Printing of Books industry in India has increased over the last few years due to the several incentives that have been provided by the government of India. While 74% FDI is allowed in publishing, 100% FDI is allowed for companies who are engaged in book exports from India.

In 2002, the organized printing of books industry in India generated revenue worth around Rs, 1,600 crores and this included ` 300 crores that the industry generated in exports. According to estimations of 2002, 13,000 publishers in India were expected to publish more than 60,000 new titles every year.

The government of India has allowed foreign direct investment up to 74% in the business of publishing in the country. Further the Indian government has allowed foreign direct investment up to 100% in the companies that are engaged mainly in export of books.

FDI Inflows to Printing of Books industry in India has increased over the last few years for the Indian government has given approval to several proposals for investment in the industry. The government of India has given approval to Readers' Digest Associates Inc to establish a fully owned subsidiary company in the country for printing, publishing, and selling books with a foreign direct investment of around ` 6.86 crores.

FDI Inflows to Printing of Books in India has come from Cambridge University Press which has acquired in the Foundation Books Private Limited, a stake of around 51%. Also FDI Inflows to Printing of Books in India has come from the joint venture that the company Parragon has formed in order to launch 250 books in the country that would range from reference to children's books.
